This week the SWD Chapter Spotlight is on the La Crosse FFA Chapter!
The La Crosse FFA Chapter has many new and exciting things planned for this year. While working to increase member involvement, we will partake in “Day on the Farm/Shop” where elementary students will learn about safety on the farm and shop, as well as getting to view many different kinds of livestock. During milo harvest, our chapter has planned a “Harvest Appreciation Week.” We will bake goods and deliver them to our local farmers and farm help, with a note attached that expresses our gratitude for what they do. Every year, we also put on an “Ag Olympics” where students at La Crosse High School participate in timed activities (piggy-back barrell patterns, bale stacking, catching a greased pig, horse shoe toss, etc) and compete for the best time. New to our POA this year, we will also be hosting our school’s first Talent Show! The La Crosse FFA Chapter will also be holding our annual “Labor Auction” where we provide supper for those in attendance and then auction off each member to people of the community for 8 hours of work. During FFA Week, we have many things planned. USD 395 has a teacher inservice on the Monday of FFA week and the officer team along with several other members have decided to come in early Monday morning to prepare a “Teachers Appreciation Breakfast.” We will be advertising a spirit week, where everyone is encouraged to wear different outfits every day of the week. “Drive Your Tractor to School Day” is also in our POA during FFA week. We are eager for the new year and look forward to all the opportunities and different experiences that FFA brings. Great work La Crosse FFA!
